About
Maya Wolf, OTD, MBA, OTR/L
Maya Wolf is a pediatric occupational therapist with over two decades of experience. Over the course of her career, many parents have expressed that their child faces challenges with sleep.
Maya combined her expertise working with children and families with her doctoral research on sleep to develop a parent coaching program, Dream On, to promote positive bedtime experiences and healthy sleep in children. She also created the Dream On OT continuing education course to educate other occupational therapists on this topic. Dream On uses a theory driven, holistic approach and offers a variety of evidence-based nonpharmacological strategies shown to improve sleep.
Additionally, Maya continues to offer pediatric occupational therapy services and is registered and licensed to practice in New York and New Jersey. She is a two-time Boston University alumni, receiving both her bachelor and doctorate degrees in occupational therapy. Her doctoral research was conducted on behavioral sleep of insomnia in children with neurodevelopmental delays.
Maya is a lifelong learner and has received further clinical training on numerous topics including but not limited to: sleep, sensory processing and integration, reflex integration, social emotional learning, regulation, executive functioning, play, handwriting. She utilizes a number of programs in treatment sessions such as the following: Therapeutic Listening, Handwriting Without Tears, Size Matters Handwriting Program, The Alert Program, Zones of Regulation, The Interoception Curriculum.
Her training as a Yoga Teacher (YT200) has led her to incorporate mindfulness-based interventions to help children develop strength, balance, body awareness and a sense of calm. As an Advanced DIR Floortime Provider, Maya utilizes this approach to promote the child’s functional emotional developmental capacities (self regulation, engagement, communication, shared social problem solving, use of symbols, logical thinking, multiple perspectives) through the use of child-centered play and building relationships.
Her holistic approach, nurturing demeanor and passion for helping children and families is evident in her practice.
Furthermore, Maya is keen on sharing her knowledge with others. She has presented and conducted workshops locally and internationally to parents and healthcare and educational professionals on a variety of pediatric occupational therapy-related topics. As an adjunct professor in the occupational therapy department at Iona University, fieldwork educator, and an interprofessional education facilitator, Maya teaches aspiring therapists.
In 2024, Maya and a few colleagues organized a fundraising project, Carmel’s Calm Kits, in which 500 sensory calm kits were assembled, shipped and delivered to children in Israel experiencing mental health issues due to the October 7th massacre and the ongoing war. Carmel’s Calm Kits are in memory of Carmel Gat, an Israeli occupational therapist who was held hostage and murdered by Hamas.
Maya co-authored: Doing, Being, Belonging, and Becoming: An Occupational Response to Trauma an article featured on the cover of OT Practice in February 2026.
